HOW TO CARE FOR ZITOZZA PRODUCTS AND TEXTILES

at zitozza, we design for longevity. by combining industrial-grade sustainable fibres with artisanal printing techniques, we create textiles intended to serve a busy, happy home for years to come. to preserve the bold pigment and structural integrity of your piece, we recommend the following care guidelines.

rugs
(jute & latex backed)

our rugs are crafted from raw, unbleached jute—a high-durability, carbon-binding fibre.

cleaning: wipe clean only. our rugs are treated with a natural, starch-based coating to enhance water and stain resistance. use a damp sponge or cloth with mild detergent; do not rub, as this can disturb the jute fibres.

drying & ironing: do not wring, spin, or tumble dry. roll between dry towels to remove excess moisture and hang to air dry. rugs may be ironed at a medium heat setting to remove creases from transit.

maintenance: keep away from fire and avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight to prevent natural bleaching of the jute.

usage: if using on smooth surfaces (polished stone, laminate, or treated wood), we recommend an anti-slip underlay for added stability.

note: our contemporary rug collection contains latex. if you require a latex-free bespoke order, please contact the studio.

cushions, KITCHEN TEXTILES and fabrics

printed on recycled linen, heavy-duty cotton blends, or natural flax.

washing: we recommend hand washing in cold water. for machine washing, use a delicate/hand-wash cycle (max 30°C).

drying: spin on low speed. do not tumble dry or wring. iron on a medium setting while slightly damp for the best finish.

colour care: wash separately. pre-dyed fabric elements may exhibit slight colour bleed in early washes. avoid friction between dark pre-dyed fabrics and light-coloured furniture.

fillings: cushion covers should be removed prior to cleaning. our feather or recycled polyester inserts are wipe-clean only. our cushion pads comply with UK flammability standards BS5852 1988 for domestic environments. for any extra treatment (e.g. for contract environments) or any other enquiry about our cushions, please send us a message.

keep away from fire.

our recycled linen and our heavy duty recycled cotton blends have been tested and pass the schedule 4 part 1 cigarette test - these can be used for upholstery with a schedule 3 interliner.

lampshades

our lampshades are structural pieces and should be handled with care.

cleaning: wipe clean only with a dry or slightly damp lint-free cloth. always unplug the light fitting before cleaning.

safety: our shades are laminated onto flame-retardant PVC that complies with BS EN 60598-1-2008. all electrical components are CE/UKCA marked and fully compliant with UK and EU safety regulations.

placement: avoid direct sunlight to prevent UV discolouration of the hand-printed pigments.

material honesty & general product care

The nature of jute

jute is one of the most sustainable fibres on earth—growing without pesticides and enriching the soil it leaves behind. we intentionally use industrial-grade, unbleached cloth. the slubs, knots, and tonal variations in the weave are not flaws; they are the "fingerprint" of the plant and are central to the zitozza aesthetic.

hand-printing

we use solvent-free, non-toxic, water-based pigments that are heat-set for durability. because every piece is printed by hand, block by block, you may notice slight variations in texture or alignment. these "imperfections" distinguish our artisanal textiles from mass-produced digital prints.
