a quick scheduling note for the coming months: zitozza will not be participating in any regional winter craft markets or seasonal pop-up fairs this year.

this winter, we will be online only. we are reserving this period strictly for physical studio maintenance (a full structural renovation is on the horizon), finalising new work, and servicing external design commitments.

before major work in the studio can commence though, we would like to clear some stock. we are offering 30% off all cushions (enter COSY30 at checkout) until 30th november.

gift ideas for people who hate “gifts” - for the design-driven, algorithm-allergic, clutter-averse

every year the festive season arrives (earlier, louder, shinier), insisting we must find the perfect gift. something meaningful, but not sentimental. practical, yet aesthetic, personal, but not weirdly intimate. if you’ve ever tried to buy for someone who despises “stuff” (like the design-minded friend with the oddly particular taste, or the shopaholic who already bought everything they need), you’ll know the problem.

with our markets coming up, rather than pursuing some kind of a futile fight against time, i decided to fully lean into the festive spirit so i put together some ideas for gifts that don’t shout “GIFT,” but still count as a thoughtful gesture and maybe even improve a life. objects with material integrity, purpose, and presence. things that work hard without asking for attention.

1. Textures rather than trinkets

think tactile, useful, design-sharp: small hand-printed cushion, lampshade that changes winter light, tea towel as miniature textile art or block-printed greeting card as tiny architecture

a soft way of saying: “why not treat your kitchen table with he same rigour as your bookshelf.

2. Tools of enjoyment

gifts that support daily rituals without screaming lifestyle: ceramic coffee cup from an independent maker (why not browse the wonderful line-up of tea green for the best of scotland!); linen napkins that feel like a restaurant stole them from you; a good brush (shoe brush, clothes brush, make-up brush, table brush — anything honest and wooden)

3. A book with spine (metaphorical and literal)

not coffee-table filler. real ideas, research (ahem, zupagrafika’s eastern blocks have a second part coming out…!)

for more serious suggestions (and personal favourites): designing design by kenya hara; raw concrete by barnabas calder; the comfort of things by daniel miller.

4. experiences — but with context

experiences are always great! but architecture people crave context. so why not gift: museum tickets (or why not a membership!); a day trip to a concrete treasure (free! mostly - and highly recommended); or - a breakfast somewhere with good chairs and terrible lighting (on purpose)!

5. Prints, but with intention

a small print framed simply, hung low, near somewhere lived-in. not a gallery wall. not statement art. just… presence. or even wearable - abstract, printed t-shirts, no witty slogans, no football logos, just a nice, geometric pattern.

(we do sell some of those at markets, coincidentally.)

6. Maintenance is a love language

fragrance is personal. but a solid shampoo or a proper, organic bar soap will always be used. or think about some high quality pens. refillable japanese notebook, thoughtful, organised stationery. objects that say “care” rather than “consume.”

7. The almost-perfect non-gift

a block-printed lampshade or cushion. not seasonal, not trend-led, not disposable. just structure, softness, and light: a quiet upgrade to everyday life.

hello again, it’s been another busy month. i’m so sorry to do this to you in october, but my festive calendar is full and i thought it’d be important to share it for those who might want to come and touch some zitozza goodies. at these markets you’ll find a lot of things that are on the website, but also framed prints, little cards and of course, the bargain basket full of our end cuts, which are only available in person, so it is definitely worth coming.

for the last christmas weekend, it'll be time to come home to east fife and meet my local neighbours here. i can't wait to meet you all this winter! do come, see, smell, touch and buy some amazing brand new prints - old favourites and some new gifts too.

*** important notice *** last christmas orders are to be placed by 15th december. anything made to order must be placed before the 9th in order to be made and shipped. the studio will be closed from the 21st december until 6th january. orders placed during this time will be fulfilled afterwards.

festive market double header weekend!

hello dears, it’s that time of the year again, can you smell the cinnamon and see all the sparkles? it’s festive season time and we do have some nice ones lined up this year again. unfortunately we will not be doing any in glasgow this winter, but for all of you my glaswegian friends, feel free to browse the online selection, we are putting up a lot of the smaller gifts yea as well.

but for those of you in dundee and edinburgh (the first festive one in the city for zitozza!), you can come and get your hands on the tactile goods (and dig into the bargain basket!) as there’s a lovely little line-up of two consecutive weekends.

the first one is just around the corner, in the city of jute of course, we wouldn’t miss this for anything. this is a fabulous line-up of the very best of contemporary scottish design at a true creative hub. this venue has creative workshops, cinemas and exhibitions so if you’re that kind of crowd, please do come along and have a chat! we really look forward to it.

this one is brand new, and we’re particularly excited about this one because for the first time for christmas, we’re heading to edinburgh, to leith to be more precise, the new creative hub of the place! i particularly look forward to meeting the creatives who know about and use edinburgh open workshops as i’ll be joined by furniture makers, woodworkers and other craftspeoople and can’t wait to buy something beautiful too!

so i hope you’re able to join and see us in either dundee or edinburgh - glasgow, aberdeen, and fife, i do hope to see you sometime later, but the online shop remains open 24/7.

if you want to buy anything bespoke or made to order, please place your purchase by tuesday 12th december as after this date, we might not be able to send with enough time before christmas to arrive. regular orders will be shipped right up to christmas, but please be mindful of courier services being overwhelmed and give your order slightly more time than usual.

- a beautiful, unique setting with a bunch of talented scottish designers, as usual with tea green events, the line-up is going to be exciting, colourful and sustainable.

zitozza at the V&A dunde and bowhouse markets!

we’re pleased to gather you around today, ladies and gentlemen, with a few more announcements to make. zitozza has been selected for the line-up of this year’s tea green festive market at the v&a dundee. zitozza will be there for one day only, on the sunday 7th november, but the event itself takes place on the whole weekend with a whole bunch of brilliant designers and i can hardly contain myself! it will be amazing to be exhibiting at this most prestigious venue and meet fans and makers of high quality contemporary design made in scotland. really cannot wait!

but before that, i’m going somewhere much more local, finally here in the east neuk of fife, at the bowhouse market (also thanks to tea green events) also on sunday only, on the 10th october. there will be three of these in total though, with weekends also in november and december, all with a fabulous line-up of scottish makers, music and all sorts of great stuff here which i love and as a fifer, close to the heart! (and oh my god, the food! THE FOOD!)

so we’ll be looking forward to meeting you all and showcase the latest hand block printed jute stuff to you - please think about christmas in advance to ease the pressure on the poor delivery folk! let’s make shopping an event, treat your home (and yourself) to some beautiful decor and at these fairs - shop local, discover an army of local creatives, and… did i mention the food?
